Title New Twist on an Old Twist

Title: New Twist on an Old Twist

I’ll begin by saying this… Damn the title has it wrong. The new twist really isn’t that new because Facebook isn’t that new. Anyway here it is and I’ll keep it short for those that are in a hurry to get back to scrolling through social media.

For some time now I’ve been seeing an increase in the level of of manipulation in a particular area on Facebook. What I’m referring to is what’s known as Like & Share. Please allow me to give you an example.

Someone post a sad picture of a cat, dog or maybe their grandmother. The caption goes something like this. Blah blah blah blah blah I bet I won’t even get 1 share.

Maybe you’ve seen that one but if not that’s great and good for you. Here’s one more example and this one kinda hits home because I was in the military for eight years.

Someone post a pic of a group of US Military Veterans. I recently seen one using Vietnam Vets and it was nice. Something about being heroes. Then it reads Like & Share if you agree.

Anyway the entire thing reminds me of what Facebook did in 2012 and is still doing. I’m referring to the tests that were conducted on almost 700,000 subscribers without their knowledge. It was a study on human behavior by Facebook’s scientists.
