I’ll begin by saying there are over 3.5 million people living within The Denver Metro Area. That’s the area made up of 7 counties, including Denver, Aurora, and Boulder. Furthermore, the city of Denver covers 155 square miles, and the Denver Area covers thousands of square miles. Back in 2018, someone loaned me $20. Due to more circumstances than I could possibly convey during this post, I not only didn’t pay the man back but until yesterday I haven’t seen him and did not have any method of locating him. I didn’t even know his full name. I’ve spent the past 18 months both wanting to settle the debt and make things right. He’d loaned me the money in my time of need, and I’m not a man who takes advantage of people. As I’ve written about many times, honesty is at the top of my list of personal qualities. I don’t have the patience for liars and takers. Yesterday, my co-workers and I were working in Downtown Denver on the corner of 17th Avenue and Logan Street. I noticed a small car pull up and drop off a gentleman, and then dart back into traffic. I immediately recognized the passenger who exited the vehicle as the man I owed $20 to for the past 1 1/2 years. I could tell that he didn’t see me as he walked into 711. My buddy looked at me a little strange as I walked off towards the store, particularly since I’d just returned from the store. He didn’t recognize me for a few seconds, but I already knew it was the gentleman I owed money to. We talked for a minute, and I gave him his money and a business card. Debt settled! This, of course, is precisely how our Universe works. The question is, what if I’d chosen to pass on my opportunity? Then again, why would I pass on an opportunity that I requested, and through my own relentless verbal affirmations created? Not a bad turnaround time considering the area in question, although I still expect more from myself. Joseph Shanklin March 3, 2020

    1. It is a big deal to me. I’ve been wanting to pay it for over a year. I think some people will read this piece and think [so what $20], but I was very happy to see this guy get out of a car 25′ from where I was standing.
