Maybe you’ve heard this before? The eyes are the window to the soul. I believe William Shakespeare is credited with being the first to make this statement.

It’s true; the eyes do not and cannot lie. Most of us tend to be distracted by smiles, facial expressions, body language, speech, and so much more, but the eyes will always reveal the truth.

I’ve discovered an opportunity hidden within the temporary use of masks. This opportunity is right in front of our eyes, and it’s quite literally the unobstructed eyes of those around us. Keep in mind, with the eyes comes the portal to the soul.

More than ever before in history, those who would hide behind smoke and mirrors cannot do so. Much of the distraction has been removed, concealed by something that was never meant for this purpose.

I have a suggestion. Find someone on television wearing a mask. Okay, now mute the volume. Next, observe that person’s eyes throughout their conversation. By removing most of the distraction, you should be able to glimpse something behind their eyes, some glimmer of who they truly are.

Some people can do this on-demand. Many can, and others cannot shut this discerning ability down at will. For those who do not learn how to power down their discernment, seeing becomes tiresome and overwhelming.
