This piece was inspired by something I read this week on another blog—an article from a very talented writer.
Approximately 25 years ago, my work supervisor said to me, “pride is overrated.” Up until that moment, I hadn’t thought about it like that. I’ve been thinking about it ever since then.
Pride is destructive. It ruins relationships and marriages. Pride splits up families and drives people away from each other. Some people choose pride over everything else, including those they love.
And the saddest thing about this tragedy is that pride is not real. It’s not tangible. Pride is simply a state of mind. When someone chooses pride over a person, they are admitting to not being in control of their mind. They are giving up their power. It’s easily compared to giving in to anger. Anger is a secondary emotion. When someone stays angry for more than a minute, they are choosing to be angry. Hey, that’s another blog.
I recommend placing pride in your shoe and walking on it. You will live a richer life, surrounded by your loved ones.

Your words are blessed with wisdom. I especially relished the last sentence about ‘pride and one’s shoes’. 😊
